The short version: Jude's Stars does not collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. Everything your family adds stays on your own iPhone or iPad, and we can't see any of it.

Who we are

Jude's Stars is a reward chart app for children, made by an independent developer (a dad) in the United Kingdom. It is designed for children aged roughly 3 to 10, used together with a parent or carer. If you have any questions about privacy, email support@judesstars.app.

What the app stores on your device

To work, the app saves the following only on your device:

The app never asks for a child's age, birthday, photo, school or location. We suggest using a first name or nickname.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. We have no servers that receive it, and we cannot see it.

How it's protected

Your family's data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps can't read. It uses iOS data protection, so it is encrypted whenever your device is locked.

Device backups

If you use iCloud Backup, or back up your device to a computer, iOS includes the app's data in that backup, just as it does for most apps. This lets your stars come back if you restore or replace your device. Backups are held by Apple under your own Apple Account, under Apple's Privacy Policy. We never have access to them.

Purchases

The optional one-time "Unlock Every World" purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, email address or payment details. The app only asks Apple whether the purchase has been made, so it can unlock every world or restore your purchase on a new device. With Family Sharing, one purchase can cover your household.

Buying, restoring and the grown-up settings all sit behind a grown-up gate (your PIN, or a maths question written in words), so children can't buy anything or change settings by accident.

Children's privacy

Jude's Stars is built for children, so we keep to the strictest standards:

The app is designed to meet Apple's Kids Category rules, the UK GDPR, the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the "Children's Code") and the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Deleting your data

You're always in control. In the Grown-ups area you can:

To delete everything, delete the app from your device. This permanently removes all of its data. If you use device backups, older backups may still contain a copy until they are replaced or deleted. We hold none of your family's data, so there is nothing for us to delete.

This website

This website (judesstars.app) has no adverts, no analytics and no tracking. It doesn't use cookies for analytics or advertising, and it doesn't load fonts or scripts from other companies.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type so it can deliver pages to you and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

If you email us

If you contact us, we use your email address and message only to reply and help you. We never share them, and we don't add you to any mailing list. We delete correspondence once it's no longer needed to help you.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Because the app collects nothing, in practice this only applies to emails you've sent us. Just email us and we'll help. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If we ever wanted to collect any data, we'd ask you first in the app. We have no plans to do so.
